A Posthumous New Year's Wish
Margot Krikhaar's final article from 2011
Margot Krikhaar was a remarkable teacher of A Course in Miracles in Holland. I translated two of her books into English several years ago:
The foundation that handles her intellectual legacy in Holland just sent around her last article, a new year’s wish for the year 2012, which is very much as relevant today as when she wrote it. At the time when she stopped, she knew she was dying of cancer, so she knew that individually her time was up. Below follows the English translation of the article.
The End of Time
In November 2007 my first column appeared in this publication [MIC Magazine]. Since then we are four years and eighteen columns further along. This will be my last. It is time to stop.
This year, 2012, is viewed as very special in some spiritual circles. However you look at that, it is noticeable that within the collective dream of humanity the energy cycles are now very fast. (In fact, this is about cycles of thought: the Course teaches that everything originates from our thoughts Thoughts lead to energy and to forms and manifestations we can observe physically.)
Within our dream we now live in a time that demands rapid change and clear choices, both collectively, and individually. All of us are asked to no longer postpone living our highest truth - living and manifesting love. Swimming with the stream is imperative now. What this entails can differ from person to person. Just like in my case the time has come to be silent, it can be the time for others to start becoming more vocal. Whoever turns deep inside, to the Holy Spirit within, will feel what is asked from us now. The Course asks us to make the choice for love all the time, and it offers many avenues to start functioning on a higher level (you could call that a higher level of energy).
⁴Time itself is your choice. ⁵If you would remember eternity, you must look only on the eternal. ⁶If you allow yourself to become preoccupied with the temporal, you are living in time. ⁷As always, your choice is determined by what you value. (ACIM, T-10.V.14:4-8)
The current ‘speedy´ time can become an aid to end time… for yourself! For that no illusory world needs to perish. In a certain sense it is much simpler than that. Recently I read a beautiful expression (not in the Course, but very much in line with it):
Time is a general thought, within which all specific thoughts play out. Just like space is a general ‘object,’ which contains all specific objects.
If you let this thought sink in fully, you are outside of time and space! Time is only a thought, which does not exist anywhere, except as a thought in our mind. An untrue thought, for God never thought up time. Time is a choice, see the quotation above, with the goal of creating the framework of spacetime in which we play our fantasy game.
The end of time can take place any time. In every true experience, of the ‘now’ outside of thought, time dies. That is when you touch eternity. This timeless ‘now’ is called ¨the Holy Instant” in the Course. In every holy instant time ends, for you. At that moment you may still see others muddling on in time a little more, but you see it from outside, as an observer. With that you are also out of space instantly. You are ‘somewhere’ where there is no time or location. And the Course explains that this means the same as being outside of fear, guilt and darkness. Instead, you are in love, and oneness and light. You exercise this holy instant every time you practice forgiveness. Until the time comes when you choose total forgiveness. At that time the ultimate Holy Instant, which no longer disappears, reveals itself to you: the timelessness of the real world.
In time, the world will carry on for “a while.” But, because it is only the effect of our (collective) thoughts, forgiveness makes the world a less destructive and more loving place to learn our further lessons. This way you help yourself, but others as well. And in the holy instant, you see that there is no distinction between the two.
Outside of time, outside of space, there is only silence. No more words. Just a lot of peace. Right now, I enjoy hanging out there a lot. With this column I say farewell. But only within the dream.
⁹If you will accept only what is timeless as real, you will begin to understand eternity and make it yours. (ACIM, T-10.V.14:9)

This was sent to me with wishes for happy holidays and a peaceful new year by the founders of the foundation “Ontwaken in Liefde,” (Awakening in Love), and signed by its founders.
