The commencement of the Gospel is John. Not only historically, not specifically a Person as a dream figure, certainly not as a “known” form, but as experience, as a fact we gradually realize.
To experience the Commencement of the Good Tiding ourselves, is to conceive John within ourselves, to give birth to John, and to let him come into being within us, to become John, and in due course to be John.
John is Jehochanan, God is merciful! To recognize this as the Name and accept it for what happens to us, that is to gain the insight: that all is a Gift, not to be judged by us other than as a Blessing.
To give birth to John is the never suspected Knowing of the Truth above the figures of the daily Dream.
After all, we are not awake. We are fast asleep. The dream figures come and go as Keepers of that sleep. What gives form and color and life to this dream figure is our own deluded and confused life force.
